When asked what's more important, praying or reading the Bible? I ask, what's more important breathing in or breathing out? - Russ Scalzo
Scripture & Devotion: Scriptural focus: Psalm 27:8
"My heart says of you, “Seek his face”. Your face, Lord, I will seek."
How much time do I spend each day seeking His face? What does that even mean? When I seek someone’s face:
· They have my full attention
· I see their expressions
· I can listen to them
· I desire to have their full attention.
To see someone’s face:
· You go where they are found
· You turn your face them
· You call out for them to turn their face to you.
I find God in His word. I find God in prayer. I find God in service and I find Him in love. I turn away for a time from the things that compete for my attention and turn my face towards him. I call out to Him in prayer. No one answers the phone unless it rings.
As a follower of Jesus, seeking His face should be a daily, if not a continual priority. Before checking Facebook, the Blazer game, tonight’s TV show or my favorite video game. None of these things give back like seeking God’s face.
My heart says of you, “Seek his face”. Your face, Lord will I seek.
Prayer:
Lord,
Lord, may we make it a priority every day to seek your face. To turn away from everything that draws our attention away from you and turn our eyes to you knowing that you reward those who earnestly seek you. Amen
